A Health Care Unit which has been lacking in the Hardy Advanced Technological Institute

A Health Care Unit which has been lacking in the Hardy Advanced Technological Institute for many years, has been completed by the students of the Hardy ATI, Department of Information Technology, batch 2021/2022.
The Health Care Unit was established on the basis of the concept and full guidance of T.H Dinusha Darshani, Lecturer under the Human Values Project with the support of other academic and non-academic staff.
The establishment of this Health Care Unit aims to provide primary medical care, promote health education and ensure the overall well-being of the educational community by meeting the physical and mental health needs of students and staff.
This health Care unit was ceremonially opened on 06.11.2023 with Ampara District Secretary Mr. Chinthaka Abeywickrama as the Chief Guest.
For this, the Assistant Divisional Secretary, Mrs. A.P.P.S Agalakotuwa,Medical Officer of Health,
I.D. Ranasinghe and other health officers of the Office of the Medical Officer of Health,
Chief Administrative Officer, Ampara General Hospital, H.M.C. Herath,
Special Grade Nursing Officer, Ms. Malkanti,
Assistant Provincial Commissioner of Eastern Province, Mr. Kamal Nethmina and
Academic and non-academic staff and all the students of Hardy Institute of Advanced Technology, including the director, participated.

As per the recommendations of the Committee appointed by Prof. Wiswa Waranapala, Deputy Minister of Higher Education in 1994, the Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technical Education (SLIATE) was formed in 1995, under the Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technical Education Act No. 29 of 1995, In 2001 the name of the institution was amended to read as Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education, (SLIATE). It functions as an autonomous Institute for the management of Higher National and National Diploma courses. The main purposes of establishing SLIATE were to reform and restructure the entire technical and vocational education system in relation to the changing needs of economic development, to meet manpower requirements of national development strategies, and the promotion of privatization, with special concern for meeting the scarcity of trained technological manpower resources at the technician level.
