Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE) is proud to announce the 1st ever symposium (SRS 2017)

Summary of the feedback session of SRS-2017

Mr.K. Kohilan, Director, ATI- Jaffna

“Research is worth. Specially, I appreciate the research of our former director Mr.Ravinthiran. His paper content is very useful to the society because it says how to manage electricity using solar system. I think that the experts could be improved more because our Director General’s theme is prosperity through research and development. I specially thank the Director General for giving such a wonderful event to SLIATE. This is the first symposium in the history of SLIATE. This should be continued maintaining the same standard like this. On the other hand I specially thank the organizing committee and Mr. Lal Shantha, Director-ATI-Colombo for the arrangements and accommodation”

Mr.Rupasinghe, Director,ATI-Galle

“Today research symposium was effective and the contribution of the staff was also effective. The participants were very talented but I think research should be effective for the future generation. The most important thing is that the research should be applicable to the national and global development”. Further, Mr. Rupasinghe mentioned that the researches should be more focused on eradicating the pollution and he appreciated the research based on solar power which was presented in the engineering session. Concluding his feedback he appreciated the organizing committee for selecting an ideal location for the symposium.

Ms. Deepani Edirisinghe, ATIAnuradhapura

“I would like to thank the organizing committee for organizing this type of event. This is the first symposium organized by SLIATE. I think SLIATE has formed a new culture for the academics to carry out their researches and academic activities. This event was well planned and well organized. I appreciate the accommodation and transport facilities provided for the staff. I think this is a good opportunity for all the academic and non-academic members to get together at the same place”.

Mr. S. Vijayanathan, ATI-Jaffna

“Accountancy, Management, Law, Technology, Engineering and English sessions were well arranged. All the lecturers performed with outstanding presentation skills. For researchers it is a perfect platform to bring out their knowledge. Within a short period of time, our Director General Dr. Hilary E.Silva and Deputy Director General Dr. Sahayan could succeed all their efforts. Symposium in future should be arranged to incorporating international researches too.”

Mr. Senevirathne, ATI-Kandy

“I am really happy about the experience I have had today. I want to thank the organizing committee including Dr.Sahayan, Ms.Sandya Bandara and all the others for their commitment. Finally, I want to thank Dr. W. Hilary E. Silva our Director General, not only for initiating research culture at SLIATE but also for initiating research symposium today. I wish you all the best for the next research symposium”.

Mr. C.R.Ravinthiran, ATI-Jaffna

“This is the first time in SLIATE history, the research culture was introduced by the Director General. This provides the SLIATE academics and the non-academics to deliver their findings and to contribute not only to the development of the SLIATE system but also to the nation. This symposium is organized in a grand scale within a limited period of time. We have to thank all those who have dedicated their time to make this event successful. This symposium is a good platform for the SLIATE staff”.

Ms. Anusha Tennakoon , ATI-Kuruneala

“For the first time we all feel that this is something which belongs to us. The academics got a very strong stimulation plus a motivation to carry on researches further. At this moment, I can’t be ungrateful to the huge pillar that is behind this. That is none other than our dear Director General Dr. Hilary E. Silva. Actually honestly and frankly, I thank you very much sir for creating this culture in this set up. So as academicians we are really grateful to you. Starting something or initiating something is the most difficult task, when something is started it is convenient and easy to carry on. So, your name will be immortal in the sphere of SLIATE and as academic members we promise to continue this further with more strength”.

Ms. M. Rathnayake, ATI-Badulla

“A research is a wealth for us. Today the Director General gave us the chance to share the wealth with others. I am thankful to Director General, Sir, you uplifted our institute to the greatest level. I have participated in international conferences, there is no difference in this compared to them”

Mr.Saman Karunarathne, Internal Auditor,SLIATE

“In the strategic plan, research culture was there from 2006 onwards but it was only an item in a list. We didn’t see it in reality but luckily because of Dr. Hilary E. Silva we experience the action of it. That is why we honor our Director General. As I am in the Head Office, I know in his vision he always discussed about this symposium. It is appreciable that within his busy schedule he has allocated time for this event. Because of his advice, guidance and assistance we experience this important event. We are gaining the new knowledge. This is a major tool for the development of SLIATE. Therefore, we must thank Dr. Hilary E. Silva for giving us this opportunity. I observed almost all the presentations and I appreciate the English department. Their presentations were very interesting. I must thank the organizing committee as this event is organized in an international level”

Mr. Perispulle, Former DDG, SLIATE

“This was a dream of Dr. Hilary Silva because this was started in 2014. I think we were trying to do a symposium at that time. There were so many barriers. Anyhow he started the forum at least in 2017 and that is his effort. SLIATE was started in 1997 and we never ever thought about this sort of forum and the research culture. So the lecturers who presented today are very lucky. This is a very good initiative. I think we can develop and get a very good place par with the university. There are lots of talented lecturers among us. So, I feel it is a very good start and everything is well organized”.
